Greater Los Angeles is a combination of the urbanized area and the five counties that make up the Southland region. There are two definitions for Greater Los Angeles; the first is the combined statistical area and the second is the urbanized area. However, growth has slowed in recent years. Greater Los Angeles was one of the fastest growing regions in America for most of the 1900s.
